Hernán Azócar (Santiago, Chile, 1962) developed his interest in photography during the mid-eighties. He attended video art workshops in Stockholm with the Chilean visual artist Juan Castillo. When he later moved back to Chile, he participated in the activities, collective exhibitions and discussion organized at Foto Estudio La Nave, where he showed his work.

His current series, Urgent Portraits, explores the relationship created between a stranger and a photographer, when the spark of fascination that follows the initial glance keeps them suspended in the hustle of the Central Station of Amsterdam. The challenge of slowing down to allow a brief moment of complicity in the middle of rush hour.

Currently he works as a freelance photographer and copywriter in The Netherlands.
